Efficient approximation of random fields for numerical applications

چکیده
SUMMARY This article is dedicated to the rapid computation of separable expansions for the approximation of random fields. We consider approaches based on techniques from the approximation of non-local operators on the one hand and based on the pivoted Cholesky decomposition on the other hand. Especially, we provide an a-posteriori error estimate for the pivoted Cholesky decomposition in terms of the trace norm. Numerical examples are provided to validate and quantify the presented methods.

Numerical solution of the spread of infectious diseases mathematical model based on shifted Bernstein polynomials
The Volterra delay integral equations have numerous applications in various branches of science, including biology, ecology, physics and modeling of engineering and natural sciences. In many cases, it is difficult to obtain analytical solutions of these equations. So, numerical methods as an efficient approximation method for solving Volterra delay integral equations are of interest to many res...

In recent years, the optimization of truss structures has been considered due to their several applications and their simple structure and rapid analysis. DNA computing algorithm is a non-gradient-based method derived from numerical modeling of DNA-based computing performance by new computers with DNA memory known as molecular computers. DNA computing algorithm works based on collective intelli...
متن کاملNORGES TEKNISK-NATURVITENSKAPELIGE UNIVERSITET Modelling spatial variation in disease risk using Gaussian Markov random field proxies for Gaussian random fields
Analyses of spatial variation in disease risk based on area-level summaries of disease counts are most often based on the assumption that the relative risk is uniform across each region. Such approaches introduce an artificial piecewise-constant relative risk-surface with discontinuities at regional boundaries. A more natural approach is to assume that the spatial variation in risk can be repre...
متن کاملEfficient Simulation of Stable Random Fields and Its Applications
Two methods to approximate stable random fields are presented. The methods are based on approximating the kernel function in the integral representation of such fields. Error bounds for the approximation error are derived and the approximations are used to simulate stable random fields. The simulation methodology is applied to a portfolio of storm insurance policies in order to spatially predic...
متن کاملA Numerical Approach for Fractional Optimal Control Problems by Using Ritz Approximation
In this article, Ritz approximation have been employed to obtain the numerical solutions of a class of the fractional optimal control problems based on the Caputo fractional derivative. Using polynomial basis functions, we obtain a system of nonlinear algebraic equations. This nonlinear system of equation is solved and the coefficients of basis polynomial are derived. The convergence of the num...
